Soliloquy: Hidden Acts of Resistance in the Plight of Black Visibility

Co-curated with Usen Eseit at BedStuy Art House - September 2021

Soliloquy: Hidden Acts of Resistance in the Plight of Black Visibility is the first solo exhibition, and culminating thesis show, of multidisciplinary artist Lamar Robillard. The exhibition explores the possibilities of a Black existence wherein our hyper-visibility is not a source of oppression. Centering Black material culture as a means of subverting the gaze, this newest body of work teeters between the internal and the external, a communion of lived and imagined experiences for Black people in America.
